Congratulations on your pregnancy!
By now you've taken the test, downloaded all the apps you can find, possibly taken buggies for test drives and feel like you have shares in Mothercare!
You are well prepared. Aren't you?
Just one last hurdle.... the birth!
No doubt by now people have been tripping over themselves to tell you their terrible birth stories and without a doubt years of subconscious messages around birth have led you to think of it as a painful, messy or even emergency situation. Perhaps you had a negative birth experience already?
What if I told you that it's possible to change that perception? That you could feel confident, calm, excited even about your baby's birth? That you could have a positive experience no matter how your baby chooses to enter the world. That you could be fully prepared both mentally and physically for that day?
Sounds good doesn't it? Read on!
Now I know there are already many misconceptions around the word Hypnobirthing - so let's start there. I promise you that we do not "Hypnotise" anybody. There is no running around like a chicken, we don't swing pendulums, hugs trees, chant or burn any incense. The "Hypno" association comes from the level of relaxation that we aim to achieve during pregnancy and birth. Deep relaxation is simply a light state of Hypnosis which is extremely beneficial and effective during labour. If I could rename the course I'd probably swap 'Hypno-birth' for one of these examples; calm-birth, informed-birth, relaxed birth, controlled-birth, confident-birth.
What's more, it's science! Hypnobirthing provides logical, scientific education that explains exactly what your muscles and hormones are up to during your labour and how your techniques can enable them to do what they were designed to do. This also helps us to understand how we can potentially hinder the process so we discuss how to avoid that happening and how your birth can be much more comfortable.
All of our courses actively involve the birth partner so that nobody need feel useless or anxious. Our birth partners know exactly how to support and protect their birth partners during labour and the programme also helps them to bond with baby during pregnancy.
KG Hypnobirthing teacher training course are accredited by the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) because midwives and hospitals benefit from the more calm and straightforward births as a result of KG Hypnobirthing, with shorter labours and fewer interventions.
